LastBasic is a product development platform that helps inventions happen thanks to our global community of experts.
Every project that comes through the LastBasic platform is unique and each one requires a multidisciplinary team on demand to achieve our client’s prototyping dreams. Our platform is powered by our expert community. Our expert community is made up of a global network of sketch and 3D designers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and prototyping partners that contribute to the multi step process of designing and developing functional prototypes.
We know we need experts that are technically capable of finishing the projects for our clients.
At LastBasic we value our expert community and continue to be impressed by the quality of work that comes from all corners of the globe. We believe the more diverse our community is, the better the solutions will be that we provide to our clients. As LastBasic scales, we hope to grow our expert community with intention. How we qualify our experts is an ever evolving process. We know we need experts that are technically capable of finishing the projects for our clients, but also have an extra level of “special sauce” that will make the LastBasic platform a unique experience for all users.
In order to accelerate development of this part of our platform, LastBasic partnered with Global Venture Catalyst (GVC) to build an agile team.
Currently we qualify our experts in a more traditional method with resume reviews, technical questionnaires, and manual matching with our client’s needs. This is a successful approach to date, with multiple projects having success through our platform. As we scale, however, we need more automated methods to find this “special sauce” and technical capability to ensure all experts joining LastBasic contests are the right fit for our unique portfolio of projects.
In order to accelerate development of this part of our platform, LastBasic partnered with Global Venture Catalyst (GVC) to build an agile team to propose alternative directions to this problem. GVC is an organisation that connects technology-driven students, MBAs, and mentors to do quick design sprints and progress real-life projects. Within only a matter of a few days, the GVC student team quickly came up to speed, defined the problem, and provided the LastBasic team with solutions to enable our growth as a platform.
The GVC team identified the value of connecting experts with empathy for our client’s needs as a core value that we plan to integrate into our expert qualification algorithms. When it comes to product design, good user experience is as important as a boundless feature set. At LastBasic we work with our clients to coach them through the process of building their first MVP prototype. The GVC team managed to quickly build a robust and implementable solution that focused on the core requirement of merging soft and hard skills into our expert qualification criteria.

The LastBasic team is grateful for the progress by the GVC student team and we would like to give a big shout out to Jan-Eric Wörheide, Flowera Jimee, and Dorin Suciu for all their hard work during the program. We look forward to partnering more with Global Venture Catalyst in their future programs!
Cheers,
The LastBasic Team
